Carlos Lee Trade
The first question we must ask ourselves is if this trade for Carlos Lee should have even been made. At the time of the deal the Rangers had fallen out of first place and were in the middle of their worst losing streak of the season. After bringing Lee they capped it off for their 5th loss in a row. The standings now show that Rangers sit at 3 games outside of first place.
Carlos Lee is a fine player, and perhaps we did not give up a lot by getting rid of Cordero, Mench, Nix, and a second guy named Cordero. However, Lee is also a Free Agent after this year, so there is no gurantee he will be sticking around unless the Rangers plan to overpay him. I think it was a potentially risky move when they were not really in a position to make a solid run at the playoffs. Their only chance is to win the division, but even then they would be the 5th best team in the playoffs in the American League.
I like John Daniels, but I am not sure this move should have been made. Only time will tell.
